''Even though sometimes you feel like everything is going badly their will always be a good side.''

While Rose was walking in the street from school, she thought to herself about the story that her dad Johnny told her. Johnny told her that when her mom found out she was pregnant it was too late to get rid of her.  So she gave birth to her and left her to Johnny. Even though he provided her with food and clothes, the only thing that she really wanted was the presence of her dad.

Monday evening, Rose was cooking pasta alone in the kitchen.

It was 7 pm, Johnny arrived he was drunk. He slammed the door entering the house and screamed at Rose. Rose goes in her room to do her homework on her tiny bed. Rose left her room, gathered her strength, and asked Johnny, “Are you ever going to quit drinking?”

Johnny responded roughly, “Why do you care?”

Then, Rose says “It’s always me that does everything in this house, do you even care about me.”

Johnny looked at Rose with disappointment and goes in his dark room.

Rose screamed, “I don't know why you don't love me but I didn't do anything to deserve that” wiping her tears down her red cheeks. But he had heard what she said he just decided not to answer.

The next day, Rose had so much anger. She decided to go to her friend`s house because she didn’t want to see her dad.

She closed the door heavily and went outside.

It was a foggy night with the full moon the trees shifting from the cold fall breeze. She walked even though her feet were aching with exhaustion.

Her hands were stung by cold, and then the rain hit her. She shivered.

On the dark, old dusty roads, lights were barely seen.  Around her she saw old couples walking hand in hand with huge smiles. There were a lot of cars passing by. She was almost at her friend's house.

Just then Rose felt something behind her.  She turned around to see what it was. While she turned around the light was on her and a car hit her.

The drunk driver left as fast as he could. People were speaking loudly around her but the only thing she heard before she fell unconscious was the beep of a phone calling 911.

A few minutes later, ambulance technicians picked Rose up gently and took her in the car.

At the hospital, Doctors discussed if Rose would ever wake up. They all agreed that Rose was between life and death and that there were few chances for survival.

While doctors examined Rose, the secretary called the only guardian available she had, her father. He was at the bar when they told him that Rose had been hit by a car. His hands were shaking he had trouble holding the phone. After the talk he had with the secretary, he called a taxi. He ran across the bar. He went out as fast as lightning.

He yelled to the taxi driver, “I need to go the hospital.  Make it fast!”

The taxi ride seemed longer than usual for Rose’s father. When he got to the hospital, he asked the secretary to see Rose.

She politely answered, “Yes,” and showed him the way. She guided him up the stairs. He entered the quiet room, it slapped him sober. He saw his daughter lying unconsciously on her bed. Her lips were blue-violet and her skin was washed of color. Her eyes were heavily shut. Her suffering showed through her scars, and bruises that were black. She was breathing artificially through a tube. Her father was trying to put his warmth into her numb hands. Doctors were coming in and out of the room. They told Johnny that if she would wake up she would suffer memory loss,  and have difficulty speaking or walking. Johnny immobile, begged for Rose's life.

When doctors were gone he sat on the bed next to her. Johnny apologized that he was not a good father tearfully. About one week later, Johnny was always in the hospital room of Rose waiting for her to wake up.

About one hour later, her father was drinking coffee and looking at Rose carefully. He saw her eyes opening he was so happy, crying of joy and when seeing Johnny cry, tears drowned her own face. Her tears were giving back the green in her sparkly eyes, they were giving some colours to her pale skin and putting color in her cheeks. This day doctors came in the room all surprised saying Rose was a miracle.

Five days after being released from the hospital, Rose went to physiotherapy and learned how to speak, and walk. Now a month later she is very good at it.

Rose said, “Thank you dad, for staying all this time with me.’’

Johnny responded, ’’This time I’ll take care of you like I should’ve taken care of you, and I promise you I’ll stop drinking.’’

Rose spoke quietly’’ I’m going to show you how to be a good dad,” They both hugged with joy.

Johnny explained what happened before and in the accident. For the driver that bumped into Rose they found him and he was faced with 25 years in jail.
