My Dream To Become A Cosmetology
Dreams can mean many things to people, some think whether you should chase your dream or for others you shouldn't. Our dreams can be something meaningful to us when you want to pursue something great in life. When pursuing a career path is a dream, why not follow it? As a little girl I dreamed of being a princess all glammed up with a vanity like in the Disney movie, but I didn't grow up in a lifestyle that was spoiled and bratty. First time I ever saw makeup was seeing my mom and aunt put colorful eyeshadow on their eyes. I was so impressed and had the urge to touch it when I was younger but they would never let me so I would sit there and watch amazed by what they’re doing. As I got to middle school, when I first received my makeup kit I practiced with so much joy. But I noticed my skills weren’t as good so I went searching on Youtube to look up videos of tutorials on how to put on makeup for beginners? After that I started to wonder with curiosity about jobs like this and did my research immediately. I was surprised there were jobs like this in the world and was more interested in it so I started to dig deeper into something that caught my attention that I really wanted to do.
Cosmetology is an important dream that I planned to do. Part of the beauty industry is where I want to follow my dream, show my creativity and build a strong connection with customers that will always feel welcome to come back. Making people feel great about themselves achieving the look they always want. But with that patience and practice plays a big role to achieve cosmetology from experiences that my auntie went through in the beauty school giving me advice about it. As a cosmetologist can help comfort customers and mental health also helps with hygiene and treatment for the skin. Making customers amazed and happy is what I want to do for others. I have never experienced on my own anything like that before, like a professional cosmetologist, only a little but I have witnessed my auntie as a nail technician and her little business grow into something . She finally bought her own building to expand her beauty nail business. Which inspired me more thinking to myself if she can do it I can also is another reason why I want to be a cosmetologist. A cosmetologist can gain experience and skills like time management. For example, because I also want to work a part time job while attending school. Also Appointments handling multiple customers at different time schedules to keep a great flow which is important to do.
But to make this dream come true it would take a process to get there. I will have to do my research for more information about cosmetology because there are specific things I may not know about my dream. I’ll need to search for a good school where I am located either a junior college that has a cosmetology program or just a beauty school specifically. Also according to Keystone Academic Courses states “need a high school diploma or GED to be required in”. Go through training I’ll need 1000 hours of completing all the training that is required on hands training like manicure, hair, skin, makeup for about 6 to 7 months going over safety procedures dealing with chemicals and tools. Then, to be licensed as a cosmetologist I will need to take my written and practical exams at least 75% or more to pass and get my license. But to keep my license I would have to renew it every 2 or 3 years with a fee.
To reach my dream as a cosmetologist, I will need support because I am still young and will need advice to be guided to the right path to get to my dream and help from the consular how to get there after highschool by asking. Another support to get from is my mother, she's been with me from the beginning through it all and family members. And with the support of my auntie who has her own beauty business by asking her questions about how she managed to get where she is now, I know it won’t be easy but I have to aim high to reach my dream.
But before I plan to become a cosmetologist, There will be small and big obstacles that will get in the way. Also the cost of school is around 14k to 18k and items I will need like tools, textbooks to study for cosmetology. I also want to have money on the side while going to beauty school either morning or evening class while working part time job to buy supplies for beauty school and slowly build my little business slowly.
