Dream College Essay
Since a young age I’ve dreamed of becoming a successful computer programer, this is due to the fact that as a kid I was surrounded by video games, and I’ve always dreamed of making my own electronics and programming my own electronics.
Why I want to become a computer programmer is because my whole childhood, I have always been a gamer and I probably started playing video games when I was around 5 or 6. Before I started playing video games, I was always on my computer or on the TV watching Youtube videos and whatever was on the internet back then in the 2010’s. Ever since I was young, I’ve been interested in electronics because I’ve always wanted to build my own computer and program a few devices to test my imaginations. Another reason why I want to become a computer programmer is because I want a job that can allow me to support my family. My family aren’t the richest people in the world, so I want to help my family in any type of way, financially, emotionally, and physically. At first, I wanted to become a computer engineer or a professional volleyball athlete because I wanted to build computers, robots, or something like that until I heard from my older siblings and older friends that computer engineering isn’t what I think it is and I would’ve focused on becoming a professional volleyball athlete but I wanted something my body can handle for a long period of time, so for now I’ll play volleyball for fun and competitively. Then currently for my future I’ve decided to stay devoted to becoming a computer programmer because I would say computer programming and computer engineering are kind of similar in a way and maybe I’ll learn how to build computers or robotic devices later in my years into my career.
The reason why becoming a computer programmer is important is because from what I’ve learned from Indeed.com, is that computer programming can allow you to create digital instructions, like online driving lessons, documents, and etc. Computer programming also works on video games, like graphics, AI, sounds, scripting, user interface, networks, tools, and etc. Indeed.com states, “Computer programming can allow you to write digital instructions for computers to create meaningful functions, uses, or designs.”. Then some qualities that are needed to become a computer programmer is learning the basics on how to program because computer programming requires a passion for it and knowing the basics of programming. The second step is to get a degree, a bachelor's degree in computer programming is good but you could get a master’s degree only if you go to an area that allows you to learn more about computer programming and it would be better because it allows you to be more likely to get accepted by companies. The third step is to go to a college that specializes in computer programming because that college will help you learn more about computer programming. The fourth step is to gain more experience, like learning the higher advancements on computer programming and then improving on those experiences because it’ll help you later in your career. Then the last step is to prepare resumes and cover letters for entry-jobs because it’ll help us enter companies or business easier due to those resumes and cover letters explaining our background and our studies.
Then the support I’ll need during my journey to becoming an computer programmer is just financially and emotionally because since I’m going to become a student in college and from my experiences, college students don’t really have money besides financial aid and student loans. So I’ll probably need a little money from my family members because I’ll use that money to buy food and whatever college related items. Then I’ll need emotional support from my friends and family because from what I’ve heard about being a college student, there is going to be a time where you are going to struggle and you might go into a depression. I’ll take kind and motivating words to push me forward in college and not me dropping out of college due to depression. I’ll also take hugs because I believe everyone deserves a hug. If you give someone a long and meaningful hug, I believe they’ll actually be grateful for that hug. Then I believe that’s all the support I’ll need because I’m pretty decent at motivating myself.
My dream is to become a successful computer programmer because computer programming was important to me even when I was little. Computer programming is also important to society because it helps alot with other things, like video games, online websites, programming new devices, and building new technology. This is why becoming a computer programmer is important to me and society.
