Swimming Labyrinth
Twenty five, fifty, seventy five, one; twenty five, fifty, seventy five, two; twenty five, fifty, seventy five, three; each stroke of every lap sent fire down my arms then swelled into my chest, breaths not filling my lungs as they succumb to the brutality of the set; head pounding, heart racing, I near another wall- flip- and immerse again in the endless cycle…seventy five, fourteen…. Almost halfway; stop at the wall and gasp but only for a moment until I begin again- twenty five of fifteen; my body screams for me to stop but alas I cannot- I swim on and on and on, the water rushes over my body in attempt to cool the flame but to no avail- this heat shall last until my last stroke- seventy five, thirty.
