A chilling wind swept through my hair as I walked along the frozen sidewalk. Christmas lights wrapped around trees lit the way as I continued along.

I came to a wrought iron gate that barricaded the path leading up to an old Victorian mansion. Inside the bay window, I could see a Christmas tree all lit up as people milled about it. I quickly bounded up the steps and gently knocked on the old wood door, tucking my beautifully store-wrapped gift under my arm.
The door fly open and there stood Alexandria, one of my best friends.
“Oh my gosh! Jenna you made it!” she exclaimed in a shrill voice. I could tell she was a little drunk already.
I progressed into the house and started mingling with people. Then, I heard something interesting, so I made my way over to stand on the outskirts of a group of people surrounding a woman.
"Can you believe it?" she said. “There has been a group of people going around and breaking into houses, but that's not all. When they break in, they first murder everyone in the house then take everything valuable they can find."
The whole group gasped and I felt sick to my stomach. Just as the woman finished her story, Alexandria stood up and clinked a fork against her champagne glass, hushing the room.
"I would like to-." She never got to finish her sentence when a rock came smashing through a window breaking the glass into a million pieces and plunging right through Alexandria’s skull, splashing her blood all over the cream-colored walls and onto to the faces of her guests in front of her. She fell to the floor, instantly dead.
People began to snap out of their shock as more rocks came flying through windows, hitting and killing people. Their blood combined with Alexandria's to make repulsive patterns on the walls. Figures dressed in all black came bursting through the front door and through the broken windows. They wielded axes and knives and started cutting anyone within arm’s reach down. The room became filled with the wails of the dying, and the floor became soaked with the blood of the dead.
With adrenaline now rushing through my veins, I acted on quick impulse and bounded, ducking and dodging blades and dead bodies, over to a closet and quickly shut myself inside. As I peered through the slates in the closet door, all I could see was the shine of metal and red.
Almost as soon as I looked out, I had to draw back. The woman who had told the story was pushed to her knees facing the closet door. A man standing behind her grabbed her hair and pulled her head back. Taking his knife, he slashed a long gash across her neck. Her blood came soaring through the air and through the slates of the door, covering my face. I wiped my eyes just in time to see the man walking toward the closet. I quickly pushed myself to the back and covered myself in things lying on the closet floor. I controlled my breathing in time to hear the closet door open and less than a minute later shut again.
I didn't dare move for about an hour, until I heard everything go dead silent. I uncovered myself and slowly looked out the closet door. The room seemed empty, so I emerged from the closet only to find a horrific sight. All the guests had been killed and piled into a big heap in the center of the room. On the wall behind them, in dripping blood, I read "death to all" before I felt a cold hand on my shoulder, a sharp pain in my back, and then darkness.
