Blue, red and white flashing… my heart racing not knowing what to do. All of a sudden the door is broken down SWAT rushing in scared out of my life and a gun in my hand ready to on sight. Shots were fired but I didn’t have no pain but next to me lied my mom lifeless. Putting down my gun down rushing to her in tears. An alarm went off all of a sudden I wasn’t home anymore I was in a jail cell it's been 7 years since the accident only a couple of hours left until my freedom is given back to me.
Walking out of the prison after 7 long years barely 25 years old now. A new chance for a better life. When the gates opened to my freedom the first people I saw was Nate and Jose they were my home boys I have know them since I was a little kid they took care of me from the rival gangs they were my second family well... my only family now.
That night they took me to bar to talk. It seemed like I was talking to complete strangers Jose already had a family of 5 2 little girls and 1 boy, he left all the drugs behind. But on the other hand there was Nate he had gotten even more into the drug business he was one of the biggest drug dealers in Texas. The night soon came to an end Jose had to go home to wake up early the next day for work. Nate told me I could stay at his place until I got back on my feet.
We got to his house it seemed that the house was barely built it looked like if it was brand new. Walking in it was so clean he had an extra room for me. I put all my stuff in the room it was already 2 in the morning I passed out so quickly.
The next morning I went to the kitchen Nate had already made breakfast pancakes, bacon, sausage and eggs. We sat down and ate he asked me what kind of job was I gonna try to get for now, I told him I still wasn't sure. He then told me if I couldn’t find one that he would be able to help me out.
A month passed and still without a jobs I was becoming desperate for a job but no one would want to hire an ex-criminal. I finally asked Nate what was the job that he had in mind for me, he told me that he needed someone to carry out deals for him. I was a little sceptical about it because that kind of stuff was what got me in jail in the first place but it started to sound good especially the amount of money I'll  be getting. I took the deal I wasn’t sure about how it was gonna turn out.
A year passed I was living on my own things looked good the job was easy and less dangerous than I thought. We are about to have the biggest deal yet it was for a 100 acres of marijuana plants. This deal could make us richer than we ever thought but it was also the most riskiest because it won’t be on our territory but on theirs but it's an offer that you would be stupid not to take.
Later that night we went to the place where we were supposed to meet. We waited until we saw a car pulling up hopped out a guys he seemed about 50 years old he seemed like he could have a heart attack any minute now. It was just him and his driver I had to walk away to make sure it wasn’t a trap all of a sudden all you hear was 2 gun shots I looked back both the driver and the old men were laying on the ground I rushed towards Nate I told him what happened he didn’t reply. We heard sirens we scattered we ended up going separate ways.
Walking in the middle of nowhere I didn’t even where I was going I finally found a gas station I called Jose to pick me up. An hour later Jose rolls up to the gas station I was relief he asked me what happened I told him what happened. He was in disbelief that Nate would kill someone. Jose took me home I was so worried I wasn’t sure what happened to Nate he could be dead and I wouldn’t know I started to think about it more then I realized that I left my car in the crime scene they would track me.Without thinking I ran to my safe grabbed all my stuff in the safe which was money guns and weed. I didn’t know where  I was going all I knew was I need a car that they wouldn’t be able to track me down on. I Bought a car a couple hours later it wasn’t the best car but it would get me out of here.
Driving on the highway not sure where I would go, I would have to start all over. I just kept driving I made my decision I'll  go to Florida. I was on my way I was in Georgia now. I was almost falling asleep on the wheel all of a sudden I passed out Not knowing what just happened I was in pain. I crashed I got out of the car right away and got my stuff I went to go check on the other driver if he was okay. His car was completely total he was dead I was shocked that he was dead but just not that he looked like me it looked like I was looking at a mirror I took him out of the car I checked his wallet to find out who he was. He was born on the same day as me I was in disbelief that I might have just killed my twin brother that I never knew I had his name was Kyle. Then I had an idea to switch clothes with him so they would think that I was dead.
The cops showed up they put me in an helicopter with Kyle dressed as me. But he was long gone by now. I got to the hospital they did tests on me to check if I was fine the doctors said that it was a  miracle that I survived the crash especially how my car was. After all the test someone came to my room she came crying to me asking me if I was fine I had no idea who she was I told her that I was fine. I started to think who she could be but then I realized that Kyle had a picture in his wallet of her and 2 kids that were probably his. There was 1 problem though I didn’t know what their names were or anything about them.
I had another idea what about if I act if I don't have no memory of anyone but my name. I told the lady that was crying that I don’t remember anything and that who was she? She started to cry even more 2 kids came in really happy yelling “Daddy” They came to hug me but I had no idea who they were. The doctor came in to see what was wrong I told him that I can’t remember anything before the crash. The lady and the 2 kids left the room The doctor that I might have hit my head and lost my memory and the best thing to do is go home and have your family try to stimulate some memories.
After just 1 day at the hospital I left the lady that cried when she saw me took me to her home she was silent the whole time until we go to the house she asked me if I remembered anything. I told nothing we walked into the house the 2 kids ran up to me to hug me. The lady asked if I at least remembered them I nodded to the side.
A month passed since Kyle died. I have been trying to become more like him to I would be able to fit in more like my wife’s name is Jennifer and our kids names are Gerardo who is 7 and Rosa who is 12 years old. He had an amazing life he had a family a job that is simple and fun he had amazing friends that really care about him. I keep thinking to myself  that I took his life away and now i'm trying to be him it makes me feel like crap.
One day I had a dream about the day the my mom died. Jennifer  woke me up she asked me what was wrong I told her it was nothing its just a nightmare but then she told me that I was screaming in my sleep I was screaming” why did you shoot her why?”. I told her that the accident has had me having really bad nightmares now.
2 Years passed my life was amazing I had my own kid. I just got a promotion and a raise nothing could have ruined this until…. I was at home we were having a family dinner when we heard the doorbell ring I went to check who it was I opened the door and 2 Police officers were at the door they asked me what was my name I told them Kyle Smith Immediately they tackled me down in the background I heard Jennifer and my kids crying and yelling why are they taking me. The put me in the back of the cop car knowing that my time was over.
I was given a second chance to make a good life for me and I thought more about money than anything else and I didn’t learn my lesson. Now im suffuring the consequces serving 2 life sentences in prison.
