My name means youth. It’s a happy, bright yellow name. It omits joy. It’s innocent happiness like children laughing. Playing at recess without a care in the world. It gives off a sense of naiveness. It is wide-eyed and curious. But bubbly. I like that about my name.  My name is Roman. It was very popular in the 1880s and in early Roman civilizations. It has history. It’s old and has character. I like that too.

When I was born, I was supposed to be a Katherine or Katie for short. I like that somebody can have a nickname and a formal name at the same time. My parents liked it too. Katherine is elegant and polite. It’s a purple name. Like royalty. Ultimately, they decided that Katherine Beth was too much of a mouth full.

Julia fits me better. I’m glad that they decided on Julia. My name reflects who I am. A happy, glowing girl. I couldn’t imagine being called anything else.

My friends call me JB or Jules. JB because my name is Julia Beth. Those are my initials. I like when they call me JB, a red nickname. It’s short yet catchy and flows well. I like Jules too, it sounds hip and fun. It’s orange. However I like JB more.

Julia is a smiling name. It is carefree and blissful, just like me. Julia is sunny. It’s the warm feeling you get when you close your eyes on a hot summer day. My name suits me just right. It represents who I am and I have learned to like it. I’ve grown into it. My pretty, youthful name, Julia.
