Darkness. That was the last thing I saw. It’s all a blur. I’ll try my best. I remember lots of people, I think I was on a street. There was an ice cream truck. Actually, thinking back, it kind of looked more like a van. It was white, looked kind of rugged, and beat up. The poster advertised that you can get a free sample. The salesman looked like he was part of a gang or something. He had tattoos, a gold necklace, that kind of stuff. He’s probably trying to turn his life around. Anyway, it was a hot summer day, so of course, I walk up there to get some ice cream. But then I hear these footsteps. After that was a blur. I felt a thud, it was pretty painful, then...darkness. And I wake up here, in this strange place, a void of emptiness.

Who are you anyway? Why are you asking me these questions? Where am I?

What? Oh… I see… How could I have been so stupid?

I guess I’ll just have to accept it. So, what happens now? Since as you said, I’m...dead.

Set Piece Pursuit: For this set piece I experimented with having a plot twist. I tried to give a few hints sprinkled around the writing. I also tried to use a writing style that I read in a book somewhere, in which you hear the perspective of one character but nothing else. If there’s a conversation, you only hear one character, and not the other. I really like the twist I have at the end.
