Mommy, which one's Daddy?

“Hey Timmy, go put your shoes on and tell me when you're ready for me to come tie them. We are going to the show today.” said mom. I always went to see shows when I was little. I always enjoyed them. Not that they were anything that interesting, it was usually just music shows of children's music bands like, The Dirty Sock Funtime Band, which was my favorite. My parents were always nice enough to take me to one of these shows almost every week. They prioritized me being exposed to music and art. But enough of my rambling, back to the story.

“Ok mommy,” I said as I headed towards the laundry room to do as I was bid. I heard the garage door open.

“Good; your father’s home, Timmy hurry up!”

“Ok Mommy!” I said hurrying to put on my shoes. Finally I got on my right and final shoe just as my father walked through the door.

“I’m done, Mommy can you come tie my shoes please?”

By this time the passenger to my fathers car had entered the house and waved hello.

“Ask your father to help you.” Said my mother, clearly busy packing something. She also packed a bag full of snacks and things to  keep me entertained in the car.

I looked up at the two familiar family members before me but I was confused.

“Mommy” I asked, “Which one's Daddy?”

I saw two very familiar faces. Only one had a balding head and wrinkles. But the older one was the one I knew the best. The one I loved so dearly. For each day, this daddy would care for me, play with me, take me to Dunkin Donuts, the park and all of my “enrichment” classes my mom would sign me up for. As I grew older, I realized he was my grandfather. But to me, he was like a father. The one who always tied my shoes for me.
