I am on all fours, slowly walking through a narrow path in a forest, trees surround me, caging me like a wild beast. The sun is setting far away creating yellow and orange colors that are seeping through the huge trees and shining through the clouds in the sky. There's a slight breeze blowing past me, making the tree branches sway almost like they are dancing. I bring my hand out wanting to feel the cool breeze on my fingertips but when I reach out all I see is orange and black striped paws of a Tiger.
I narrow my eyes, thinking this is slightly strange but kind of cool. I continue down the dirt path, feeling how powerful I am, with the strength of the animal muscles. Each stride I take through the forest, and that's when I see it, a light of some sort showing through a little bit of the trees just a couple feet away. When I get closer to the edge of the forest, the ground drops down like a cliff. I look down and squint trying to see where the light is coming from. I soon realize it's a huge fire at the bottom. The blazing fire has tree logs stacked on it making it that much bigger. Then I hear and see what looks to be Indians jumping up and down around the burning fire, they were doing a tribal dance. I step forward a little and accidentally step onto a branch and it cracks, making the sound echo through the air.
The Indians suddenly stop singing and dancing, and slowly turn their heads in my direction. I take a step back in fear. It is as if they can see me. I am standing on the top of a steep cliff, shaking slightly in fright and from the cold. I look down and my eyes slowly scan over the unfamiliar faces in the crowd. Most of them are wearing animal masks, none the same as others, they are all unique. I see them bend down one by one on a knee, bowing down. I am very confused and look back checking if someone of importance had suddenly come up behind me. Sadly no, it looks that no one's presence is behind me, so I turn back around and see that they are still bowed down.
All of a sudden my left paw slips on the dirt and rocks, making me tumble forward. I cascade down the cliff, feeling the possibility that I might die today. If I die, I guess god thinks it’s my time. I fall and hit the hard ground with a great force. My body's aching all over, and there is pain shooting through my head. I look up, seeing the beautiful blue sky and the fluffy white clouds and the warm sun shining on my fur. Then faces pop up all around me of the tribal people with their same animal masks on. Feeling strong arms pick me up slowly and carefully like I am a delicate vase. My eyes slowly shut from the unbearable pain and the way my small animal body is swaying, making me feel like I am on a rocking ship that's sailing across the great Pacific Ocean. Then I am unconscious and forced into pitch black darkness.

When I was first told about Teen Ink, I had to think hard about what I would submit. I was rereading my fantasy story and thats when I got to the dream part of it. The dream was my favorite part to write in my story because I got to write the girl as a tiger. I thought why not take this dream and send it to Teen Ink. I added more and touched it up to make "The Bright and Dark Dream".
