Slaves.
Sweat rips through the dirt on my cheeks. Scars rest on my back and fresh blood drips from my chest. My mind races as I yank the fresh roots from its moist soil. Basket in hand I race to my owner. The only rags on my body are for my head to block the ruthless sun, other than that, nothing. Nearby birds whistle in my ears drawing my attention towards them and as soon as a smile appears on my face it is snatched away by the crack of a whip on my spine. Piercing screams escape my lips, saliva pours from my mouth and tears plummet from my cheeks. The whip slashes through my blood-soaken skin, refusing mercy. My consciousness slips away and I am left, alone and bloody, to die. Overheating from the sunlight causes insanity to enter my dreams, to gnash away at my humanity. Years of my life ripped out of my fingertips, and as the insanity makes its way to my tongue, pain is an understatement.
