Midnight Betrayal

Background: Don Trevino & Victor Ruiz are two of the best cops in a fictional Mexican town named Nuve Frio which translates to cold cloud. This town is only 20 miles from the United States border which catches the cartel's eye because if they manage to bribe the law enforcement in Nuve Frio he can get fast escorts through the border control and get their drug trafficking going easily.

“Don!” Victor says with excitement “glad you can make it.” “Of course I can't say no to free food” said Don “What about the girls?” asked Victor. Don replies “Ah you know stayed home to watch a movie, I’ll pack their plates to go”. “Sounds good,” Victor replies. “You heard about the rumors?” asked Don. Victor replies “no what rumors”. “The chief said that what we found in that warehouse might be linked to the cartel,” said Don. Hours go by and Don gets ready to leave but sees victor putting on a jacket and a cap. “Where are you going?” asked Don. Victor replies “ I got the night shift tomorrow, gotta do something meanwhile.” “What are you planning to do?” asked Don? Victor said with a smirk on his face “drinks!”

Don and Victor step out to the ghost town. “What bar is even open around here at 3am?” “None around here, I’m making a drive down to la isla de craneo” [Skull Island] “Alright” said Don “Just be careful I heard Nathanael's crew hangs out around there” Victor replies “do you really think the top cartel boss and his goons are hanging out at la isla craneo [skull island] why not somewhere nicer like mexico city?” Don replies “I’m starting to think that maybe those rumors can be true that’s all”. Victor replies laughing “ah c'mon man drop it I’m sure even if they were there they wouldn’t be stupid enough to shoot me on the spot” “You’re wrong” said Don “the cartel are dangerous and reckless if the rumors are true they’ll kill you right there and then” “That’s a big if bro, I’m going to be fine” said Victor “I’ll see you tomorrow” Victor then hops in his truck and drives off. “dios lo ayude” [ god help him ] said Don quietly while Victor drives off.

Victor walks into a bar named “Sin Salida” [no exit] Victor has a seat at the far corner of the bar next to a window with his cap over his eyes taking what Don said into consideration. “What you want amigo?” asked the bartender “Corona” replied Victor. Victor then notices multiple headlights pull in with loud music playing from the inside. A man about 24 years of age walks in with two women, one in each arm. Nathanael walks up to the bartender “y el dinero” [and the money] asked Nathanael. The girls now went to their respective seats, Victor knew what was going on but waited to make sure. “A little bit more time Senor Nathanael.” said the bartender with his eyes glued to the floor. Nathanael with no hesitation slams the bartender's head on the table. Victor gets up and draws his gun and yells “police” Nathanael turns his head slowly while backing away with his hands up. “You must not be on my payroll” said Nathanael. “Why would I” asked Victor “identify yourself” “Nathanael Gomez” said Nathanael with a smirk “get him outta here”. What Victor didn’t notice was one of the girls had sneaked behind him and pointed a gun to his head, “Now drop it” said Nathanael. Victor sighs accepting his fate then drops his pistol. “Sit down…” Nathanael pauses “name?” asked Nathanael “Victor” replied Victor. Nathanael continues “Sit down Victor let me make an offer between death or money, because that’s what anyone really cares about. People only care about if today is going to be their last day or how much they can spend to cover their insecurities. So what do you say Victor” Nathanael said with a dirty smirk. Victor sighs “When do I start?”

I watched a lot of movies that inspired me to make this story for example "No Country For Old Man' gave me a setting and a place to start my story.
