Daredevil Diving
Coach walks over to him. Ready to tell him he’s doing it today; the new dive. The dive he’s feared for awhile. The dive he’s never wanted to do. His face drops with such shock. He didn’t think the day would come. Coach said you can do it. He repeated; I can do it.
He grabs his old, ragged sammy. He dries off his legs, arms, face. He slowly walks up the flight of stairs to his doom. He steps on to the three meter board, sets the fulcrum to 8. He’s shaking. He can’t move. But he has to do this. Coach calls out; ready? He doesn’t reply. 1…2…3…go!
