Heartbreak or Death

A puff of smoke leaves my lips, but not even the strongest nicotine could make me forget how you taste. My body trembles and aches for your warmth or even a gentle touch of the hand. I crave nothing but your affection, and this has been known to you since the day we met. My innocent eyes were unable to conceal my affections for you and those innocent eyes of mine, now turned bleak and hopeless, would forever be the death of me. Because to you my innocence was a prize to be won, and let me congratulate you sir on receiving your prize. Just know, that because of what you did to me, what you took from me, is why I am this way now. Why I'm full of nothing but darkness and hatred, and why when people look at me they no longer say "innocent" or "beautiful" or "pure", but "whore", "ugly", and "corrupt". You caused all my lollipops to turn into cigarettes because cigarettes can't kill me anymore than you already did.

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece because it's so common that teenagers get into relationships and give people all they have only for that person to walk away. People don't think about the aftermath and how that can affect how the person views themselves.
