“A new highschool, Oh boy” I thought sarcastically as I packed my bag.  I just moved out from Texas to Arizona and all I can think about is what the next 2 years of my life will look like.  “What are they going to think of me?  How am I going to find a friend group?”  But the worst question of all, “Where am I going to sit for lunch?”  The thought makes me sick to my stomach.

I arrived at school and so far so good nobody has either said anything nice to me and nobody has really said anything bad to me.  I feel like a nobody but atleast being invisible is better than being tormented.  I get to English class and my teacher announces that we have 2 new students today.  I introduce myself and sit back down, not surprising just another room full of blank stares.  The next person gets up and introduces herself.  As she walked up something seemed different about her but my suspicions were not confirmed until she spoke.  That thick unmistakable German accent shocked the whole class and she announced that she is actually a forign exchange student from Germany.

Our teacher explained what we would be doing today and told us to get to work.  While we were working she came up to me and asked for me to do a peer review on her work, I guess that's how she was trying to make friends.  I mean naturally as a new student I'm currently the only one in her class that knows how she feels so I'm not surprised that the first attention that I'm getting all day is from her.  For the first time all day I felt like someone noticed me and I got a warm feeling inside.  I was so happy and all I could think about was talking to her again tomorrow.  The bell rang and we left class and continued to our next.  A faint smile remained on my face for the rest of the day.

When the final bell rang to set us loose I noticed other students running to their cars to get out.  It made me realize that if I don't get out of school soon I'll be stuck here for a long time.  I started running to my car too and when I got in I started the engine and put it in drive.  I felt like I was in a fast and furious movie when my car pulled forward.  I looked up and saw a clear open way out of the parking lot and I picked up speed to get to the stop sign before anyone else.  I press the pedal all the way down and out of the corner of my eye I see someone running.  I slammed my brakes but it was too late. “THUD!” There's screams from everywhere around me and the school cop pulls up.  A bunch of people surrounded the injured person and were screaming and crying.  One girl was calling an ambulance.  I got out of the car and started panicking, realizing what I'd done.  I walked up to her with tears in my eyes.  It was the German girl from class.
