Teenagers Leave a Bigger Dent
When a boy like you smiles at a girl like me, it usually means that you’re a nice guy, a good guy that smiles at everyone. You’re good looking and a well like guy. You get good marks; you get along with your parents and teachers. You have a lot of friends, and you play on all the school teams and are in most of the clubs.
When a guy like you smiles at a girl like me, my heart skips a beat, and my mind starts wandering; imagining what could be. But then I realize that your smile is just a polite smile, one you give to everyone, nothing special, just for me. You probably don’t even know my name. While I am daydreaming of what could be, but will never be, you’re already gone. I never even smiled back.
Still, you’re smile to me, a small smile, of kindness and friendliness brightened my day, more than you will ever know. My lack of a returning smile probably barely even phased you. I’m wallowing in self pity, when I feel a tap on my shoulder. Your voice asks, “Are you okay?”
