Resurface
At a time in our lives when we are being asked to choose a college, declare a major, and make career decisions before we’re eighteen, the question of who to take to prom becomes lost for those of us nerds. But when the realization hit me two weeks before the dance that I was going with my best friend as my date for the second year in a row, I got an answer before I could even think to panic. My mind had been so full of future and what ifs and how I felt about leaving, but it never forgot what was important to me all along.
“I missed you,” I said after the front door opened to reveal the guy I hadn’t seen since last summer, but never stopped thinking about. And now, I know the answer to all my confusing questions never stopped thinking about me either.
