Always look people in the eye, even if they're blind. Just say, "I'm looking you in the eye."

I decided to head over to Annabelle’s house. It’s been three weeks since I last saw her. My visit to my uncle went longer than expected. I stopped off to get some flowers for her, knowing she loved roses, and then continued on to her house. I knocked on the door, with flowers in my hands, having mixed feelings, but someone else answered the door. It was her mother.
She said, “Annabelle isn’t home now but please do come in, she’ll be home soon.”
That’s when I struck me. I could surprise her with dinner. I obliged and asked her, “Would you mind if I cooked dinner?”
Annabelle’s mother smiled and said, “Aren’t you sweet. I was about leave the house anyways. Why don’t you have the house to yourself?” Before I got to disagree, she already stepped outside and started walking. She waved and I waved back. I entered the house and walk straight into the kitchen having my mother’s recipe all in my head.
The table was all set with candle lights, and she wasn’t home yet. So I quickly took the flowers I bought and pulled the petals off the roses and started making a path into the dining room with them. I knew this would be really romantic and a way to surprise her. I sat on a couch in the corner where she wouldn’t see me. I thought that this was the most brilliant idea I’ve ever had.
The door opened, and there she was, beautiful as ever. Her face full of surprise. She looked at the flowers and didn’t seem too happy, but followed it and it led straight to the dinner I had made. I was still in the living room waiting for her to turn around and see me. But instead she went to the back door and motioned to someone. A guy came up to the front door and Annabelle opened. He walked in and saw the rose petals on the floor kissed Annabelle on the lips. My whole world turned upside down. My heart sank. It felt like plates after plates were breaking on the floor.
"I made us dinner,” she said. She took credit for the dinner I made for her, although she didn't know I was there yet. He kissed her again and they sat down and started eating. I froze, not knowing what to do. I knew everything was gone, but not all yet. I got up as quietly as possible and went into the kitchen, grabbed the bottle of vodka that was standing still on the counter and started drinking.
