A Cold January Evening

It was a cold snowy evening. I had no place to be. It was a new town, a new state. I picked a road not too far from my house and wandered down the sidewalk, taking the scenery. Blankets of pure white untouched snow surrounded me. Everything was silent. The only sound heard was the crunching of the thin ice beneath my converse. Everybody was hiding away in their homes, keeping warm. I enjoyed winter. my favorite season. I spotted a bench by a snow covered park, and decided to sit down. I sat there watching the snowflakes drift around my face and breathing in the crisp cold air, as the minutes passed by. Suddenly the still silence was broken when another body sat down beside me. I looked over at the man, to see him looking back at me. It was then I knew who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with; I didn’t give much love at first sight much thought, until that cold January evening; when I looked into those hazel eyes.
