In a Dream: Before
I remember seeing the clouds first, with the crisp blue sky behind them. As I lay there I felt the soft grass and heard birds chirping. I sat up and looked around and saw green rolling hills going on as far as the eye could see. Trees filled with fruit dotted the hills and I could hear water flowing in the distance. I got up and I began to explore this world.
As I wandered around, I noticed the sunlight was shining through the trees; fish were swimming up the river, and occasionally animals passed by. When the moon came and the sun left, I laid down in the grass and I listened to the sounds of the night. When the sun returned, I continued my journey.
After a few days and nights went by, I came upon a structure. It was big, dark, and smoke was coming out of it. The smoke stretched across the sky and blocked the sun. Loud sounds came from the structure and the animals ran away. I started to run with them, trying to escape the cloud that the thing had created.
I’m not sure if I will ever see the sun again.
