Antagonizing Acronyms
Tommy, Ben, Lauren and Abby are neighborhood kids having a conversation about Christmas gifts.
Tommy: Hey guys, you know what I really want for Christmas?
Ben: Here we go again…
Tommy: A Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
(everyone is silent)
Tommy: Come on, come on, I want to hear it!
Lauren: You mean a laser?
Tommy: No, I mean a Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
Abby: Have you told your parents about this laser yet?
Tommy: I haven't told them about that, but I've told them about the Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
Ben: Laser is a little-known acronym. Your parents probably don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Tommy: Of course they do. Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation if perfectly self explanatory.
Ben: Anything else you want for Christmas?
Tommy: Yes. A Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.
