August 2022 Fiction Contest: Bleeding Clouds
Cloudy skies are prettier than clear skies. The girl’s eyes watched the clouds float by, observing one that looked specifically like a bunny. If she squinted, the rest of the clouds resembled bunnies too.
Something tickled her arm. She drowsily glanced over to survey a bunny sniffing her arm, its beady eyes crimson. She smiled, drifting into a pleasant sleep before a sudden pain tore at her arm. Warm scarlet blood was blossoming where the bunny’s teeth had sunken, its breath rancid on her skin.
Her eyes barely caught the hundreds of beady eyes surrounding her before her vision stained red.
