A Night Alone
Wind howled and snow raged over the barren tundra. I looked behind me; small blood stains sunk into the snow were in my sight. I carried her freezing, grey body in my numb arms. I stumbled from the sword gash in my left calf, sending pain shocking through my body. A larger wind gushed over us as we trekked on, barely able to sustain ourselves even when she was carried in my arms. Soon enough it seemed as if we’d gotten nowhere in the vast arena. I collapsed onto the ice- coated permafrost, gasping for a freezing breath and stability. Her crystal blue eyes weakly looked into mine for the last time. I fell to my knees and released her lifeless body beside me. Now it was my turn.
