A little girl, 12 years old,
she looks after a kid-
her brother Frank- 'cause
her daddy's drunk and
Momma's been dead.
When Daddy's home, it's
"Let's be quiet. Don't want
more bruises, do ya?
Hush, go to sleep now, I'll
just sit here 'til you
wake up later."
Downstairs there are chairs thrown,
glass breaks,
tears choked, beers drank.
She knows she's hungry, but
the food left is for little Frank
and when he wakes up it's
back to business, clean the
mess Dad made. But now she's
guarding, in case that
monster slips in late.
