Mean Kids and Lonely Kids

I will never fully understand way people are so mean. Why does it always have to be a contest with mean people. Every time I turn around i see more and more people being bullied and I sometimes freeze and don't know how to handle the situation, but then I realize that what the mean kid is doing to the lonely kid is wrong. I don't have a nicer way of putting it.
