Feedback on Why You Need a Gaming Mouse

When playing video games, especially on the PC, there's always a set of must-have items in order to have any sort of decent experience. One major essential that is the gaming mouse, which is explained in “Why You Need a Gaming Mouse” by Aiden Kurtsman. Here, he explains how they use more sensitive optical sensors, higher DIPs, and many more PCMR(PC Master Race) jargon. However, I disagree. Not even a somewhat well built mouse is needed to get good at computer games.

Though the article gives good points on why a gaming mouse is useful, personal experience tells me otherwise. For example Kurtzman says, "You need a high DPI mouse for quick mobility and perfect aim." Actually, a lower DPI is much better, because high DPI shifts the problem from the mouse's ability to the user's ability. Most people won't be able to gain such marksmanship with a sensitive mouse they can barely control. Instead of using high DPI for mobility, all you really need is a big surface and a low to medium DPI. This provides mobility, as you can easily throw your arm across the table, but also allows you to make quicker, more precise movements that you wouldn't be able to make with a higher DPI. An example of this is Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, one of the best Fortnite players in the world, who also use .07 mouse sensitivity.

Another thing gaming mice have are programmable buttons all over; extra buttons that you can take advantage of in game. However, there's just one big problem, any computer setup would already have a complete set of buttons that could be programmed for use. They're called a keyboard and "keybinds". Their sole purpose is to be buttons that do something when pressed, so why not use them instead of make more buttons? Putting buttons on the mouse only serves as a distraction for the user; no one wants to be fumbling with their mouse trying to hit a button that isn't needed there.

If there are people who prefer light up, technical equipment, then sure, they can go knock themselves out with it. All I'm going to say is to be careful what you wish for, because sometimes you don't get what you want.
