In Helen Lee's article "Critiquing the Critics," I stand by her views on online critics. Constructive criticism is fine, but when faced with the thin line of objectivity, it can turn into unwarranted bullying. Many young artists can be discouraged, or even be led to give up on their passion. I have seen toxicity on some of the websites Lee mentions, like Tumblr or DeviantArt, and I have had friends too scared to even post their media out fear of mockery. The mix of pressure and toxicity creates a society detrimental for growth and prosperity. I agree, it is near impossible to create a friendly environment online, where everybody's morals are hidden by a monitor. I can also agree that cringe culture can be overshadowed with the power of positivity and kind comments.
