How Long Submissions Take to be Approved

December 6, 2009
By Anonymous

It seems that when you submit something, it takes weeks, perhaps even months for it to be approved. Everything is always published on the website, is it not? Has anyone ever received a letter saying your article was not approved and will never will be? I don't think so. Why not just post everything up right away so we no longer have to wait and wait to see our work up online.

We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

You know what wierd? When I first joined like 2 years ago it was like that for me, but now it only takes a couple of days. Maybe the longer you are a memeber it goes faster? I really don't know. Anyways, what I find truely frusterating is when I type a really long comment and then it either doesn't post at all! (reeeeeeaally annoying) no matter if i refresh the page and try again or anything I do, or it takes a long time to post (subtley annoying)

Writer's block, meet writer's hammer.- Me on a frustrating day.

the 200th comment! i joined perhaps a week ago, and i've been checking My Work incessantly ever since. i posted a series of 13 photos on the first day, and i'm wondering if they might think that was overkill and only accept a few? i've heard of inkpop, good and bad, but i'm willing to wait a little longer here until i try it.

Hate is often an obverse form of love. <br /> You hate someone whom you really wish to love but whom you cannot love.

Haha.

Could any of it have been flagged for some reason? I don't know if Teen Ink notifies us if our work was declined for any reason (bad language, sketchy topic etc). Then it might seem like it's taking forever to be approved if it's already been declined.

That means it was denied. Sometimes they just deny stuff randomly. Not sure why. Submit it again and it will proabably be posted.

Um, a LOT of inappropriate stuff can show up in the photo/art section. Think about it. With a mouth like yours I'm sure you can come up with something.

I don't think they have a word requirement. I've posted things with three lines. They have a word max. (2,500) but just because these are supposed to be short stories and not novels.

If it's still pending approval, then you won't be able to see it. You won't be able to see it until it's posted to the website. That's why they tell you to keep a copy. :)

Sorry, for my reply WriterFanatic. I didn't read this first (I'm reading from the bottom up), but I am just really frusterated with everyone being mad at Teen Ink. They're trying to help us and it's not like we pay them or anything. We should feel happy they'r allowing us to post our stuff.

And I think the reason poetry takes so long is because it's so popular and so many people submit tons and tons of poetry. It's one of the most popular sections on Teen Ink. Hope that helps!

Honestly, you should feel lucky there is even a website/magazine like this. Most Teen magazines only have a dult writers. How unfair is that? Give Teen Ink a break. They're trying to make dreams come true and they can't do it all in one day.

Then don't. If you can't be patient enough to wait for Teen Ink, then just leave. Honestly, you should feel lucky there is even a website/magazine like this. Most Teen magazines only have a dult writers. How unfair is that? Give Teen Ink a break. They're trying to make dreams come true and they can't do it all in one day.

And don't even try to say I don't know what it's like to wait, 'cause fyi I do.

That's because some really long comments are filtered. It says so in the pop up you click OK on.

Honestly, the whole thing about proper English...that shouldn't be the responsibility of the website. It should be the responsibility of the author. I don't blame Teen Ink in the least for that.

Well, sorry, but you're making it sound rude...

I think a lot of it has to do with how much YOU post. I have like a bagillion articles and for the first few months they got posted after a few days, now they're taking longer. But then again some only take a few days...

Honestly, that would just be the opinion of who reads it. A lot of teens could care less about what's inappropriate or not. Teen Ink still needs control over its website and magazine. If they didn't, they could get parents mad at them and they wouldn't be promoted in schools.

Plus, has anyone heard of "patience is a virtue"? I had to wait several months for one article to get posted to the website and then two months later it was published. I could honestly care less about how long it takes to get posted, when there could be a chance of getting internationally published. Yeah, it's irritating, but it's worth it.

&quot;And that&#039;s when I shot him,&quot; my dad.

Your right, maybe they can take a lesson from YouTube and just put every thing up, and if anything obscene is posted let users "flag as inappropriate".

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down?

my first article -kill, kill, kill- got accepted about an hour after i submitted it, but then i submitted a few more, and they aren't being accepted... i agree, why do they have to be approved first?
