After Haiti experienced a terrible earthquake, I thought it would be discussed at my school. However, I was wrong! The day after the quake, not one word was even said about the earthquake and the devastation. In fact, when a small group of teens were discussing it, many other teens where confused, and one even said, "There was an earthquake?" It pains me to see that there is a lack of communication and discussion concerning world events in public schools. I am completely shocked that no one seems to care about this! I consider myself very tuned in with the news, but many kids and schools seem to be turning away from it. This angered me! The problem needs to be fixed!

This is interesting. I do agree that some disasters that happen in separate countries should be discussed in classrooms around the world. It is irresponsible to ignore others struggles.
