“Sunburn” by Larah Bleiker is a great poem! I love how she uses such strong adjectives because it really gives me a picture in my head about what’s going on. I think that this poem is more about love than about a sunburn, however, that’s not a bad thing; a metaphor is always fun too!

This piece caught my attention because every summer I get at least 7 sunburns, and for some odd reason I feel cool when I have one. When I have a sunburn, I love knowing that someday my tomato- red face will someday turn into a warm, caramel tan.
I like this poem because it reminds me of the summer- my favorite of all the seasons. It reminds me of when I used to walk around town with my friends, go to the beach, and eat my half - melted ice cream.
