Feedback on "A Letter to Icy"
The poem “A Letter to Icy” by Kayla Markwell talks about how miracles can happen in life. She writes about something that seems impossible but actually happens. Even though this poem is short, it still has a deep meaning to it. The poem seems to be simple but the meaning is hidden in the words. She uses words that when combined, creates a whole different meaning. The meaning of knowing something as always being impossible but can happen, can be found in the poem. Many people feel that miracles can’t occur but this poem explains the complete opposite of that. I really like how this poem contradicts that thought.
One line made me feel really emotional inside. The line “But you should know that even sometimes it snows in Texas” made me think differently. In movies, there’s almost always a happy ending. Surprises always occur in movies but in real life everyone knows that they won’t. This line made me change my point of view. Texas is a place that rarely has snow but it does happen. It’s not entirely impossible so even the most extraordinary things can happen and this poem made me feel strongly about this statement. Things happen that I would never think about happening. It amazes me how this poem completely changed my perspective. Marvels do happen; it’s just a matter of believing.
