Smoke
“Smoke”
“Smoke” is an amazing piece by “Kelly.” It is about how smoke is very beautiful and elegant but is a terrible toxin and how the nicotine is grotesque, wrapped in “pretty white packages begging for attention.”
The word choice in this piece is great. It’s like I am reading a published book. It is very ironic because she talks about how the smoke is beautiful but is very dangerous and toxic and just terrible for you.
A lot of people in my family smoke and I absolutely hate the smell and I plan on never smoking. When I see my dad light a cigarette I watch the smoke in amazement and how it flows as if it was weightless and just puts me in a trance, but I wonder why he spends money to inhale a toxin.
Thank you for writing this amazing piece.
