Teen Ink Article #2 - WhiteBear
White tells a amazing story on a slave running for her life and freedom during the time when Africans were being rounded up and shipped to the Americas. Away from family and friends the author tells how the first thought that comes to mind is her mother, and how she awakes to yelling waiting her fate.
This story tells us how far we come in our history. It is still sad that this is still a serious threat, as terrorist, or even human traffickers. Even today movie makers have strongly hit on this subject of slavery, such as 100 Years of Slavery, which shows our society on how we must not live in the past. At my school I do not see this as a issue, but I could be wrong. Me being a Mexican/American I haven’t got any racial jokes, yet I have heard rumors on how some people or even teachers are racist but I hardly believe these types of rumors.
