Graded Discussios
I was really impressed by how the beginning of “Graded Discussions” by Augusta S. was explaining her thought about how the phrase “Graded Discussion” was an oxymoron. She was able to talk about this idea and I agree with her because adults tell us that a graded discussion is an open flow of ideas and there are no wrong answers but you can still have your own evaluation based on your opinion. She was also able to talk about a common problem that is present in schools and colleges. The kids are told that they can talk about anything that they want to but then you are graded on it. But what really caught my and made me think about this piece was that she said that how we can’t say anything without it being critiqued and judged, not just by the teacher but also by the students. Students also have the constant worry that I have to say the “right” thing and some students won’t even say anything because of this worry. Is there any way we can change this?

Since I started middle school and even in high school we always have had these kind of discussions in middle school and I never really was good at it. So when I saw this artical it caught my eye and I wanted to right about it.
