Goodnight, sun
sun, bright sun
beautiful, shining shamelessly in a silent cerulean sky,
diluting it.
blood, red blood the rich color of rusted velvet
taste of metal,
innocent blood,
that stains the uniforms of our protectors
and taints the pure soil of the land of the free.
the sky remains silent.
when our sun, protector and guide of light, goes home to make place for the night,
when nothing but an indigo black void freckled with stars
who bear witness to crimes,
but, alas, cannot testify
for they are helpless, millions of lightyears away.
and the moon.
the wise man in the moon watches wistfully,
our cries muted by ignorance.
we long for the sun.
but when it comes,
justice does not accompany its warmth;
the night is forever upon us.
screaming, bleeding vocal chords.
all that can be heard is silence.
ignorance is deafening.
the light taunts me.
goodnight, sun.

I hope that ignorance towards oppression does not blind you as it does many others in my country.
