We have all heard about it. We have all probably heard both sides of the issue. America is afraid of guns. There is a real problem at hand, but more gun control laws are not the solution. The battle for more gun control laws isn’t worth the time. A gun isn’t a mean or bad machine. No more gun control laws in America are needed, for the following reasons; First of all guns don’t kill people, people kill people, also gun control is a dead end battle because America is basically split right in half between gun enthusiasts and people who don’t like the,, and finally it would take away our right to defend ourselves.

Some background knowledge will be needed. Many people hunt, many people shoot guns for fun , and people even shoot them for sport. In the olympics there are events that are gun related including a biathlon. Guns are a part of our everyday lives people cannot go anywhere without at least seeing someone in a shirt with a gun on it.  According to a Feb. 2013 Pew Research report, 32% of gun owners owned guns for hunting and 7% owned guns for target or sport shooting (National Shooting Sports Foundation). People need guns to hunt and survive, provide for a family, and for a pass time. If we didn’t hunt with guns we couldn’t maintain the animal populations and certain species would become extinct and it would have a ripple/chain effect killing more and more species off everyday. Now wouldn’t it be inhumane to let an animal starve to death rather than put it out of its misery? To the eyes of anyone it would be awful to watch a poor animal starve to death. Also imagine the economic problems we would have on our hands. We only have one earth and by not being able to have a gun to control animals eating and destroying it along with us destroying it with our needs we wouldn’t have the ability to show our younger generations what America’s beautiful landscapes are like. Well by putting more gun laws into effect we would lose that opportunity.

Back to the point. More gun laws in America would not be as effective as people and the government might think, because guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Can a gun just randomly get up and start killing people? No, a person can get a gun and go kill people. “Of 62 mass shootings in the United States between 1982 and 2012, 49 of the shooters used legally obtained guns. Collectively, 143 guns were possessed by the killers with about 75% obtained legally. ([69] John R. Lott, Jr.”). Also a criminal who wants to kill someone with a gun or have a gun to commit a crime will be able to find one and buy it or steal it. A man with determination can do almost anything and that in the opinion of some is scarier than any gun you can have.
Gun control isn’t worth the time and argument. It is a dead end battle, no one not even the government wants to put up with it. The argument of gun control has been an ongoing battle for the longest time. Studies on it go back to the 70’s-80’s to see if it has any effect on the city, state, or region that it is passed in. "A Nov. 26, 2013 study found that, between 1980 and 2009, "assault weapons bans did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level" and "states with restrictions on the carrying of concealed weapons had higher gun-related murders." ( John R. Lott, Jr., PhD, author of More Guns). Many people think that having more and more of these gun control laws will solve the problem of crime, but to be honest it does not do anything. People will always be able to get guns. Most guns in shootings (around 62%) are legally obtained. To even buy a gun you have to take many tests and you have to get a gun license. Gun laws require to even buy a gun you have to get a background check done. Gun bans  and gun restriction laws do not do too much to stop gun-related violence.

To put in more gun laws the government is gaining too much power and we are losing the right to defend ourselves. We have the right to defend ourselves and by putting on more gun restrictions we are having that right taken away. The Libertarian Party stated, "A responsible, well-armed and trained citizenry is the best protection against domestic crime and the threat of foreign invasion.". (The Libertarian Party). Without guns how many other ways are their that are effective to defend yourself from someone with another weapon. According to the National Rifle Association (NRA), guns are used for self-defense 2.5 million times a year. [57] The police cannot protect everyone all of the time. 61% of men and 56% of women surveyed by Pew Research said that stricter gun laws would "make it more difficult for people to protect their homes and families."([58]Nelson Lund, JD, PhD,). Gun restrictions are giving the government too much power because they are keeping us under their control by taking away our only real defense against terror and the government itself. The government lies to the public all of the time, also there are also many thing that the government doesn’t tell us because they feel that “It’s disclosed information”, “It’s on a need to know basis and you don’t need to know” and a bunch of other bull crap lines. We do not need to give the government even more power than it has now.

Many people may think that we need more gun control laws. They are wrong, they are wrong because we would be giving away our right to bear arms, we would also be losing the right to defend ourselves. We would also be Punishing people who aren’t criminals by putting more gun laws in effect. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people. How about instead of a gun ban we have a person ban, now that doesn’t make sense now does it? No it doesn’t and if we lose our guns then we might as well destroy the 10 amendments. Gun control laws don’t even work, they make more problems. In areas with gun laws more gun violence has erupted. Also if it doesn’t increase the problem it doesn’t do anything to prevent violence.

No more gun control laws in America are needed, for the following reasons; First of all guns don’t kill people, people kill people, also gun control is a dead end battle because America is basically split right in half between gun enthusiasts and people who don’t like the,, and finally it would take away our right to defend ourselves. Gun control is not a solution, it does not do anything to the problem at hand. It only gives away our rights. Us losing the right to bear arms is against the 10 amendments. The second amendment says  "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." It shall not be infringed, By putting on even more restrictions it is slowly but surely taking away that right. More gun control is not the solution the fears we have in America.
