Six Word Memoir
A six word memoir can say many things about a person or a lifestyle. The six words I decided to choose are, “my life is just getting started”. This memoir can have many meanings or connections to several different people. Whether or not you believe it, everyone starts a new chapter of their life all the time. It may just be the slightest change as in getting a new job or getting an entire new wardrobe. The change could also be dramatic as in moving across the country getting married, or starting a family. The meaning of this memoir to me is that I’m starting a new time in my life. I opened up a new chapter ahead of me by entering my freshman year. At this time, my life is full of new beginnings, and a blank canvas that I can start to create.
This memoir, “my life is just getting started” has many different meanings for me. Clearly, when reading it you may immediately think that a new child just entered the world. But not in this case. What this means to me is a new chapter is about to begin in my life. So far, I have already had two chapters; elementary and middle school. Currently, my high school chapter is beginning. On my first day of high school I was very nervous. I didn’t know what to expect and how I would feel about it. As soon as the first day was over, I realized how much I loved high school! It’s full of so many new challenges, both academically and socially but most likely guaranteed to include exciting and rewarding experiences.
In the memoir, I used only one piece of punctuation. I used an exclamation mark at the end of the memoir. I used that piece of punctuation because I wanted the readers to know my excitement about entering high school. This is an exciting time in my life and I want to make sure to let the readers know, right away when looking at the six words. In regards to the word order syntax I wanted to let the readers know that “my” life is just starting. This really specifically points out whose life is getting started. Lastly the diction is informal and is more conversational. I want to communicate in real life how my journey is going to take off.
This story relates to me in many ways. I am a freshman in high school as of six months ago. So many changes have been brought to my attention due to this new chapter. Some are small, like getting more homework, being driven to school, and having an open period. But there are also big changes being made, including starting my first high school sport, making new friends, and planning classes and achieving grades needed for a specific college. All these new beginnings really go to show that a new chapter in my life has really begun.
So many changes have been made, but they are truly for the better. Before entering high school, I was very nervous and scared. I then realized after the first week there is nothing to worry about. So far, after six months I love where I am and the journey I have taken to get her. Life is good.
