Imagine being the most popular girl in school. Everyone likes you and looks up to you, but with that comes enemies people love to hate you and will do anything to take you down. This story, for example. Has your Valentines Day just ever gone terribly bad? Well maybe me and you can relate. For me life just seemed too good to be true, I was captain of the soccer team, I was Ms.Popular everyone loved and hated me of course and I knew there were people that wanted to be me and would do anything to be in my position, but I would have never imagined it being my best friend. Im Cairo and well this is my story of the worst Valentine's Day ever. On Valentine's Day we usually imagine everything going perfect showing love and affection to your loved ones. Receiving the most beautiful roses and going to a romantic dinner! I mean at least that’s what I’d always imagined. Well today was the exact opposite. For the past years I’ve celebrated Valentines with my boyfriend Nathan of 2 years, I guess you could say we are high school sweethearts and he's like the best boyfriend I ever could imagine. He would always send sweet texts in the morning and ask about my day we would always have the best moments together filled with laughter and great memories. However, my best friends Lilly and Eva always had their suspicions of Nathan and oh how they turned out to be right.

Brittany, Nathan, and I have been close friends since 5th grade we would always hang out together. We went to the movies, on shopping trips, touring and you would never find us apart. That was until Brittany moved due to her mother dying so she moved in with her dad and grandparents in Florida leaving Nathan and I heartbroken. Then highschool came around and Nathan became the all-star football player and I was the captain of the soccer team so we had less time together but we still managed. Everyone looks up to us as this perfect couple. That was until I was humiliated and backstabbed by my bestfriend and boyfriend on Valentines.

On that day at lunch I saw Brittany hugging Nathan and it looked a little more than friendly. Then later on I see Brittany on top of a table yelling out “Today is the Valentine's Day dance and I’ll be taking Nathan as my date.” then she kissed him and embarrased me infront of everyone. I questioned, could Brittany and Nathan really be together and how could I be so stupid as to not notice this. I then ran out the cafeteria crying, I didn't know what else to do I’ve already been embarrassed enough. My bestfriend and boyfriend betrayed me, I asked myself if loyalty even existed anymore and if all the amazing memories we made were fake. So even the people that are the most close to you could change at any minute.People fear when someone has too much power and will do anything to take that person down. But, do powerful people deserve this?

Just like Caesar he was killed for many reasons he was a powerful Roman. As well as a military commander, political leader who gained land and made Rome rich. Due to this it outraged and scared many people because they feared he would become king and ruin the republic that Rome had. Also, the conspirators wanted Caesar’s power and wealth while some just seeked vengeance. But, on the ides of March when the conspirators attacked wasn't his first time almost experiencing death. Caesar was a brave soldier that fought and risked his life many times before and he was once even kidnapped by pirates in 75 BC when crossing the Aegean Sea. Therefore, the main reason Caesar was killed was because the senate feared having a king and thought Caesar was becoming too powerful. However, Caesar shouldn’t have been killed because he turned down

the crown multiple times and the rest of the senate knew this so, what was the true motive in killing Caesar. Were they really just scared of Caesar turning on them and becoming king or did they want to take the power for themselves due to fear of Caesar.

So what if Caesar lived, what would Rome look like, and would Caesar had finally accepted to be King? I think that if Caesar had read the warning letter Caesar would had killed Brutus and the conspirators for betraying him and the people of Rome would have glorified him. Then most likely his marriage to Cleopatra would have been approved and their son would have been accepted heir. Rome’s society would have continued to flourish. Rome would have grown to be the most powerful city in the world. Another option people have said was Caesar could have died in a later war which could have resulted to the senate taking over and causing conflict with Octavius. Also, the civil war started by Octavius and Marc Anthony most likely wouldn't have happened. Therefore, if that situation would have happened then Caesar would have lived, which wouldn’t have been necessarily a bad thing. Although, Caesar may have seemed power hungry, he did strengthen and grew Rome, he listened to the citizens, helped out the poor and was the reason why Rome became rich. That being said, due to all the dedication Caesar put into the city of Rome he did not deserve to be killed.

Lastly, there were many conspirators responsible for Caesar’s death. I Think all the blame shouldn't be on Brutus because  it wasn’t even his idea. Brutus was deceived and he thought following the plan would have been for the best of Rome. Some may ask who was the true mastermind behind the assassination of Caesar? With all the conspirators having their part own and were all responsible. Caesar was stabbed 23 times by the theater of Pompey. Decimus was the leader of the conspiracy. It as well states Decimus was closer to

Caesar than Brutus or Cassius was. Also, every time he fought it was for Caesar, never against him, and so he held a place in Caesar’s inner circle. Decimus didn’t want to see Octavius replace him. Another possible influence on Decimus was his wife, who came from a family that was opposed to Caesar as stated in the article by Strauss. Therefore Decimus was a main leader whose motive was to destroy Caesar. However the other Conspirators had their reasons like some wanted Caesars wealth and power or were just afraid of Caesar becoming a dictator.

Therefore with that being said, even the people you thought were most close to you could change at any minute. People fear when someone has too much power and will do anything to take that person down. So, it wasn’t just Brutus all the conspirators are to blame for the death of Caesar because they were all in fear of Caesar becoming too powerful and they all acted on killing Caesar. Even though Caesar was a power hungry man he wouldn’t take it as far to be crowned King. So ask yourself is it true to keep your friends close and your enemies closer? Brutus was a dear friend to Caesar but look what he did.
