Sleep, eat and repeat. That’s all I did almost every weekend. I was watching T.V when my sister Iam and her boyfriend Lye came knocking at the door.

“Hey! Where did you guys go?” I questioned.

Iam reliped “We went to the store”

“And guess what we got.” Lye asks.

“Hmmm…. Food?” I reply in a questioning tone.

“Nope we got a bike for you and Ailee, Lets go to the park in a bit.” Lyle says excitedly.

We left for the park. My sister and I pretend like it was a bike lesson. Iam and Lyle would be the teacher who taught me my first bike lesson. I practiced for a bit not long at all and the whole time Iam Or Lye was holding onto the bike to help me steer or so I didn't fall off to the side. I was small so I was like half the size of the bike.

I thought to myself “I got this, this is so easy.”

I really thought I had practiced enough so I told Lye to let go of the bike and let me control alone.

“Are you sure?!” Lye questions

“Yes, I'm sure. I got it!” I said confidently

Lyle lets go and I slowly start to paddle.

“I got it! I GOT IT! I’M DOING IT!!” I shouted. As I shouted the wheels wobbled a little. I Ignored it and started to paddle faster and faster. Little did I know that the faster I went the more control I would lose. The wobbles got bigger and bigger. Soon my steering was all off.

I screamed from the top of my lungs “I CAN’T CONTROL IT AHHHH!!”

The bike slightly turned going full speed straight for my mom.

I thought “ oh noo..”

I saw the panic in her eyes. My mom quickly jumped up and moved out of the way. The bike in full speed came crashing into the curb of the parking lot. I fell with the bike so half my body was weighed down. My sisters laughed at me while I lay trapped on the floor defeated.

My mom scolds me  “Allah! You need to be more careful.”

I got up and nodded my head yes. I needed a lot more practice and that was for sure I thought to myself . I didn’t get many injuries maybe only a scratch or two

It’s good to be confident but when you're just starting something new don’t be so confident about it just because you got one thing right. The more you practice the better. When I think back I appreciate this mistake because it taught me a sense of humbleness.
