People change all the time. Whether it’s small things like their favorite food, color, or sport or monumental things like their job, their schooling, or even where they live. I have changed many times during my life. I’ve altered my music tastes, my job, my friends, and even most of my interests. I’ve gone through all these changes without really ever noticing or even thinking about it. What causes these changes? Is it the fact that I am becoming more mature? Is it society telling me what to do? Am I being impacted by the people I spend my time with? These are all ideas that can lead to change in a person. I have changed much since my past. It is now my senior year of high school and I want to truly figure out who I am. But truly figuring out who I am  is a tough question to answer.  As Matthew McConaughey once said, “The first step that leads to our identity in life is usually not “I know who I am,” but rather, “I know who I am not.” I know many things that I am not. I am not a varsity athlete or president of a student club. I am not a highschool dropout or the valedictorian. I may not even be the person I expected I was going to be. What I am is a hard working, trustworthy, and honest person. I work on my faith, spend time with the people close to me, and work to improve myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. I am a person you can rely on. I am someone who does not blame himself as a victim but instead continues on with his life despite adversities. I am someone who explores new waters even if they may seem too deep. I will not give up and I will not give in. That is my promise. A quitter is who I am not. But an adventurer, a challenger, a respectable opponent is who I am. For the world will continue whether I chose to participate or not. So with my 80 something years on this planet I will give it everything I got.
