Bristol Bay
Still sits the mounds dipping into the glass sea.
There is an eerie calm in the bay,
the logs extend off the land bridge,
birds swoop nearly rippling the tranquil waters.
The ocean reflects all it sees,
the colors muddled with a cloudy blue.
A sky is covered with sandy clouds.
Sun shines on a distant rock shimmering with color.
The ground seems hard and cold,
but grateful it is not broken in or built on.
Gulls visit but never touch the land, afraid to ruin art.
This place is not abandoned but rather preserved.
Barren and vibrant the island is,
a cold desert surrounded by the gulf.
With mountains peeking out from the mirror,
there is something magical about this place.
