To fifth graders coming into middle school
Why is middle school better than elementary school? Fifth graders coming into middle school might feel nervous or scared, but middle school is better for so many reasons. When I was in fifth grade, I was nervous to move into sixth grade because there were so many kids and switching classes. I was afraid of getting lost, but after a couple of days, you get used to school and know where to go. Some would say that elementary school is better because you only have one teacher, but in fact, middle school is better because you have more freedom, better lunch, and you have outdoor school.
In middle school, you have five classes and lots of options. There are two sixth-grade teams, Dogwood and Willow, I was on the Dogwood team. In middle school you have more freedom, you get a lot more time for lunch, and you get four minutes to walk to class and talk to your friend between every period. In middle school, you have many elective options. You have choices of art, band, choir, tech, and Spanish. Some electives are either one semester or all year. In middle school, you can hang out with your friends. There are ten times more people in your grade than in elementary. Three schools, Beavercreek, Redland, and Holcomb all join together in sixth grade.
At lunchtime, you can sit anywhere you want with your friends. There are a lot more options for breakfast and lunch. Because there are a lot of picky kids in this school and there are a lot of kids with different opinions and food likes. There are tables and benches outside that you can eat your lunch at.
In sixth grade, you get to go to an Outdoor School. We went to Camp Magruder for Outdoor School. We were in cabins that had four bunk beds and heaters. We had high school camp counselors who were with us all day and slept in our cabins. We got to dissect a squid, go to the beach, have a campfire, learn camp songs, do a scavenger hunt, and go hiking. Some say that elementary school is better because you only have one teacher, but in middle school, you get to move around and have five teachers.
In conclusion, middle school is better than elementary school because more freeform, has better lunch, and outdoor school for 6th grade.
