One Unexpected Sneeze
It was the only one that caught me off guard. I was the only one in the house to be teased by it. One unexpected sneeze that filled the house with sound and filled my face with pain. One that was unwanted, but there. One sickness that infected my air, left by another. From any place in my house it is waiting, and I am the only one there.
The sneeze is random. It waits for the right time. It floats in and it floats out of my nose and is ready to tickle and put me through anguish. This is what it lives off of.
I didn’t understand why it was there, but like a gush of wind on a winter day, my chest tensed up and my hand covered my mouth. A- a- a-achoo! It speaks.
When I feel my chest tense up, when I look up towards the light, then I know it’s there. When life continues normally, I don’t know where it is. One who traveled to another. One who teased and put me through pain. One who meant no harm.
