Independence
Despite the fact that I have been in a relationship for a long time, I refuse to fully rely on my boyfriend. I have seen so many girls become beyond attached to their boyfriends. They cannot do a single thing without him. He is their rock. Now, do not get me wrong. I love, trust, and expect my boyfriend to be there for me, BUT I am independent. We can live without seeing each other for a day. We do not incessantly text. We love to spend time together, but we give each other space. I have seen far too many girls absolutely break down when their one-month-long relationship comes crashing down. Of course, we are allowed to be heartbroken when our relationship ends. However, we should be able to live, to get back up, to prevail. Our lives do not- or maybe I should say should not- revolve around boys. I love a great boy in my life, who doesn’t? We should compromise our integrity, friends, and lives just for a boy. Loving independence is key. Many girls are independent and strong and I have so much respect for them. However, I am not saying girls who rely on their boyfriends for everything are wrong. I just think, in the long run, it will benefit you to be your own person.
