In the Mountains of West Virginia
Fog seeped up from the green mountains like tentacles, reaching for the stormy gray sky. Lightning slammed into the earth, thin daggers of electricity pulsing through the swirling sky. Through the smoke of the storm, faint shades of pink and orange could still be seen, remnants of a fading and distant sunset. The brilliant green mountains began to turn black as night set in. The only light remaining was the receding ball of fire on the horizon and the bright white lights electrifying the highways that swerved and cut through the ageless rock. Sometimes in life nature takes you by surprise and the best thing to do is slow down, sit back and enjoy the gift.
