Sacrifices

“There is no decision that we can make that doesn’t come with some sort of balance or sacrifice.” -Simon Sinek.

People make sacrifices everyday and probably don’t realize how big of an impact sacrifices make in our lives. Sacrifices lead us to where we are right now and where we could be in the future. Sacrifices are made everyday by everyone for a purpose. There are different types of sacrifices people make, the value of those sacrifices, how to determine when to make those sacrifices, and an example of a sacrifice that I have made.

There are many different types of sacrifices people make everyday. People sacrifice their time to complete a task or to help someone. People also sacrifice money that they earn to buy food, clothes, and to pay bills. Police officers, firemen, and those who serve our country sacrifice their lives for the lives and safety of others. Others sacrifice their comfort for other people. People make sacrifices to achieve a goal that they have set for themselves.

What are reasons behind the sacrifices that people make? They make sacrifices to help benefit someone else or themselves. Others make sacrifices for the safety of their family and the public. People make sacrifices to live their lives everyday. Sacrifices are made by people to get something they want or need.

Determining to make a sacrifice can be based off of many different factors. People will often make a sacrifice if they have a passion for something. Some make sacrifices determined by their responsibilities and commitments. If someone has a personal interest in a topic, then they may make a sacrifice that may benefit their personal interest. Sacrifices can be made by our conscience because we thought it was the right thing to do.

An example of a sacrifice that I have made is volunteering. I volunteer as a teacher’s assistant at my local youth pottery classes that is run by the city. Once a week, I volunteer my time and energy to help kids work with their hands and create a piece of art that they will use. I also help the teacher clean up at the end of the class. It is rewarding to see the students come up with ideas and make those ideas into pottery. From this sacrifice, I received friendship with the students. Because I assistant the students, I learn more about them and develop a friendship between them.

People make sacrifices based on the value of those sacrifices and how they benefit themselves or others everyday. Some make sacrifices to receive materialistic items. Sacrifices are also made to maintain and develop new friendships or relationships. Sacrifices are a part of life. They help us get to where we are today.
