Educator of the Year
Mrs. Hopkins
South Campus counselor
It was my freshman year and I was nervous to come to high school. I was nervous I wouldn’t have friends and I would be lonely. But one day changed my life.
I was really confused about it. It was ONLY 3:15 and they normally get home around 5 o’clock. They both told me there was bad news. My dad starts talking and my mother starts crying. Right there I found out that my mom has Multiple Sclerosis.
I was not like myself and I grew distant with people who truly cared about me. I pushed them away.
But then I met Mrs. Hopkins who was the South Campus counselor “at Arrowhead Union High School”. I walked into her office and she showed she truly cared and wanted to listen. She had the brightest smile. She looked pretty and was encouraging.
When I told her the news I knew she was the best. She was open-minded and kind-hearted which makes her different from the rest of the teachers. I felt comfortable talking to her and I knew she would never judge me. She was a person who truly cared and wanted to make sure I was alright.
She was understanding and supportive. She would support me and she was there when I needed her. I would meet up with her when I had a bad day and needed someone to talk to. She was the person I could tell anything and she would listen carefully and give support and love. I just can’t thank her enough for what she has done for me in two years. To this day I still keep in contact with her and whenever I received an email from her I just lit up with joy and smiled. When I would tell her my ideas she would say “those are so wonderful” or “amazing ideas.” She would find a way to help me out and that shows how lovable she is. She is a counselor but in my eyes, she is like my best friend who I cherish. She is trusting not only to me but others that she talks too. I just want to give you a hug and say how much she impacted me. Whenever I would cry,” she would support me and it just felt good.”
She was just always there and I just want to say thank you! I wanted to write her this letter to show her much she truly impacted me and my life. I would like to thank Mrs. Hopkins for the dedication she showed towards me.
