Educator of The Year
From 'aqui senorita' every morning to 'no comprendo' when Spanish words fly at you for an hour and a half every other day, Ms. Schneider is easily one of my favorite teachers. Come to school in a bad mood? Won't be for long if you have Spanish that morning. She teaches all freshman Spanish I and is great at it too. You'd think I would be tired of her between soccer, field hockey, and Spanish class, but I'm far from it. Ms. Schneider is a tough coach and a great teacher that is very well respected and loved at the Delaware Military Academy.
It is obvious Ms. Schneider loves to talk because that’s all she does during Spanish class. I used to think Spanish was hard until this year. If you don't understand something or need help, she is always to the rescue. No one ever just sits there during class. She always has you doing something like writing your answers on the white board or playing fun Spanish games to study for an upcoming test.
'Beat the best, or BE the best' is a motto I've always learned from and one that Ms. Schneider very well enforces. She wants nothing but the best. She may yell at us a lot and get frustrated all the time, but it’s only because she knows we can do better; she has nothing but the best intentions. In the beginning of the season, we were just a bunch of strangers who wanted to play field hockey, then we quickly turned into a family. Ms. Schneider is a great coach, and I never knew you could learn so much in one season. She always has a positive attitude and is a great role model.
Ms. Schneider can pretty much do anything. She was even an all-state soccer goalie. Most people don't have the same coach for two different sports, but I do, and I love it. She makes us run a lot, but I was in the best of shape. She makes every sport 100X's better.
I've had so many good times in the classroom, or on and off the field with Ms. Schneider and three more years of memories to come. This year was so much fun, and I've learned more than I ever had. Ms. Schneider is not only a great coach and teacher, but she is also a great all around person. This is why I nominate Ms. Schneider for Teen Ink’s Educator of the Year.
