Mr. Hussar
Educator Of the Year
Mr. Hussar
PE class, you either love it or you hate it. For me, it was always my favorite class, not because of the fact you get to play a sport for an hour, but the fact that I had a great teacher. His name was Mr. Hussar. He was a great teacher for every student he had. He would always encourage you to try your hardest at everything you do and he would always help people if they had a problem.
Mr. Hussar was not only our PE teacher; he was our health teacher too. His health class was basically a lesson on life. He would teach us about the consequences of our actions in life. We would also learn about our body and how it is going to change throughout the years. He taught us in the best way possible, because I feel like he could relate to some of us. He knew a lot about teenagers and used that to teach us.
There was one thing I never looked forward to going to his class but I knew it was good for me. That thing was called House of Pain, or HOP. HOP was a 45-minute workout every other class. This workout was to help us exercise and help us get in shape. It was half running and half doing various exercises that would challenge us. For example, one exercise was 25 pushups and 25 jumping jacks and then running around the gym. There would be multiple exercises, so after 45 minutes, most of the class was tired out. If Mr. Hussar didn’t see us giving 100%, he would pull us out from the exercise, and he would give us a 0 for the day. That’s why in his class you always had to do your best.
Most everybody enjoyed going to his class on the days we had PE because after the workout we would get to play a fun game. Sometimes he would let kids make up the game, or he would make one up himself. He never had any favorites, so no kids felt left out, and if you didn’t want to play the game with the class, you could walk around outside. One thing interesting about him is that he would always play the game with; he would do all of the workouts with us too.
Mr. Hussar was one of my favorite teachers that I ever had. He always gave an honest opinion on something, and he would always offer to help out if you were struggling with something. Overall he was a great teacher, and I had the pleasure to of had him as one of mine. It’s easy to see why I’m nominating him for the Educator Of the Year Award; he deserved it.
