My love of country music sparked at a Garth Brooks concert when I was 9. Originally from Lindale, Texas, I now travel from state to state every day when on tour performing my greatest man-hating hits. These hits were originally inspired from the domestic abuse I witnessed from a good friend of mine.
After releasing three chart-topping albums, I formed a band with two good friends in which we titled The Pistol Annies. The music is similar to my own, with an added amount of old-style twang, but a constant dose of man-hating.
My fourth solo album Four the Record has been immensely successful so far. Country music hottie, Blake Shelton, caught my eye when I was assigned to sing backing vocals for his song, “Home.” In 2010, he proposed to me after receiving my father’s blessing, and we married in 2011 at Don Strange Ranch in Boerne, Texas. I wore my mother’s wedding dress and exchanged vows with my best friend in front of 550 friends and family members, including big country celebrities.
My powerful songs have given numerous women the courage to leave men who were guilty of domestic violence. Many people wonder about me and Blake’s relationship because of our difference in songs. His are typically romantic as mine are usually rebellious and man-hating. The truth is, we have a very loving relationship and don’t have the time for disputes. But true country girls are powerful, strong-willed, and always prepared to draw their pistol. I am a small town Texas girl. I am strong-willed and confident. I am a country girl. I am me. I am Miranda Lambert.
